Ok I've grown bored with my quot;favorite moviequot; from various actors threads, so I'm starting up with best player from various universities threads. Up first.....Notre Dame
I'm sure I forgot people, but I'm trying to put up the most likely candidates and be fairly inclusive (for example in this case I left of Joe Theisman and John Carney, not thinking that anyone would give them serious consideration in any case). If I forgot any that you think should be there, just post them. It won't help in the poll, but might generate discussion.
out of this list...joe montana
wheres the Gipper?
I voted for Montana

I don't know, but he won't smell too good, that's for sure.

lol he's the first player that came to my mind when I saw the post.
Obviously I never saw him play but I did see the movie and he is always talked about as the best the Irish ever had.
Now go win one for the Gipper!

quot;I've got to go, Rock. It's all right. I'm not afraid. Some time, Rock, when the team is up against it, when things are wrong and the breaks are beating the boys, ask them to go in there with all they've got and win just one for the Gipper. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock. But I'll know about it, and I'll be happy.quot;
I left him off because he never played in the NFL. He died of strep throat in the 1920's, but looking at his career ND statistics I think you're right. I should have included him. He has his own website
football/gipp/
but I still like the quot;Airplanequot; version of the speech better
Rumack: Well, I don't have anything to say, you've done the best you could. You really have, the best you could. You can't expect to win em all. But, I want to tell you something I've kept to myself through these years. I was in the war myself, medical corps. I was on late duty one night when they brought in a badly wounded pilot from one of the raids. He could barely talk. He looked at me and said, quot; The odds were against us up there, but we went in anyway, I'm glad Captain made the right decision. The pilot's name was George Zip.
Ted Striker: George Zip said that?
Rumack: The last thing he said to me, doc, he said, quot;Sometime when the crew is up against it, the breaks are beating the boys, tell them to get out there and give it all they got and win just one for the Zipper. I don't know where I'll be then doc, he said, but I won't smell too good, that's for sure.
Montana hands down and all day long!!
Joe Montana
Much easier than the Alabama one.

LOL! On most lists he comes out in the top 3 all time. This list was certainly easy enough.

Yup, and if the 4th one down was Jim Brown instead of Tim, I might have had to actually think a little on this one ! lol |
