Thor vs Darkseid

Supermans greatest villan vs the God that many marvel fans think could whoop the man of steel.

Can the god of thunder defeat the lord of Apokolips, or is the Omega Effect too much for Thor to handle?

When I see this type of fight being suggested, I can't help but equate Darkseid to his closest Marvel counterpart, Thanos.

Now all of these characters, Thanos, Darkseid and Thor have held various levels of power over the years, but your average Thor has trouble with your average Thanos.

I think this is true about a Thor vs Darkseid fight. I've missed the last few Superman vs Darkseid fights and from the little I've heard Darkseid hasn't been doing too well. His coup de grace Omega beams aren't what they used to be.

Still in a fight, I'd expect Darkseid to be too powerful for Thor to win against in individual combat. If Thor had some sort of advantage (his Belt of Strength, Asgardian Battle armor, Odinforce) then I could see him winning about half the time against Darkseid.

If were talking the original Darkseid I'm taking Darkseid.  If however your talking current day Darkseid then Thor would whip him like there is no tomorrow.

Do spoilers even apply to a story 26 years old?

BTW, if you haven't had a chance to read quot; The Great Darkness Sagaquot;, I highly recommend it for fans of Darkseid. A five-issue Legion of Super-Heroes story arc written by David Michelinie and Bob Layton with art by Keith Giffen. Published by DC Comics, the arc first appears in The Legion of Super-Heroes (vol. 2) #290-#294.

Darkseid at his best IMO.

Just an opinion, but I think Mjolnir could contend with (deflect, absorb, etc.) the Omega Beams while Thor's natural strength plus Mjolnir could put Darkseid down.

Darkseid should in the class of villains that require entire teams of heroes to contend with.

I will admit that Thor is usually the biggest gun in any team of heroes he is with, but I can't picture him taking out Darkseid alone.

I hear ya.  Back in the Avengers/Marvel-Two-In-One Annual crossover, where Adam Warlock was killed, Thor couldn't defeat Thanos in battle even with the rest of The Avengers.  I didn't really think his performance represented his power level though.

Even though Darkseid's called one of the New Gods, I don't think about New Genesis or Apokolips residence as gods, really, rather than as extraordinarily powerful cosmic beings.  It just seems to me that the God of Thunder should take down Darkseid, powerful as he is.  Superman's wiped the floor with Darkseid in their last couple of meetings.

But, again, just my opinion.

You know what they say about opinions.

Just joking, of course.

Yeah, unfortunately I'm out of touch with the DC side of things, but I have gathered the impression that Darkseid has been de-powered a bit as of late.

Darkseid did thrash the DC Universe Olympian gods if that counts for anything.

I think Thor could win if he can find a way to negate Darkseid's Omega Beams. If not, then this would be a win for Darkseid.

This is the problem with Darkseid, he use to be a major threat to the DC universe. Lately he is everyone's whipping boy and no one short of a team can bring him down. So far Supes, beat him, Orion beat him so I see Thor beating him. If written the correct way Darkseid should be unbeatable in  individual battles but Supes and the others have to look good so Darkseid will going down.
