Anyone know what's happened with Mike Choi?

So, I've noticed in recent months that Mike Choi has pretty much disappeared.  He has gone off the guest list for a number of shows, he is no longer on Splash Page Art's site for Art representation, he has deactivated his deviantart page.  I can't find him on twitter anymore.  More recently I haven't seen any new work out from him with Marvel. (Geez, I sound like a stalker or something)

More than anything I am concerned.  I have had a chance to meet Mike and Sonia at a number of shows in the past and really enjoyed talking with them and getting to know them a little.

I am hoping this is just a withdrawal from online life and not something more serious.

I noticed some of that too... I wonder what's up?

I don't know what specifically is going on, but I do know that Mike made a DA post back in August or September that he would not be attending any 2011 conventions at all.  He seemed to be focusing on going independent with his creator-owned book chompstompers......but him and Sonia are no longer together, so I don't know if that's still happening.  I hope everything is alright, last I saw him was Megacon 2010.

I think that his announcement for not attending the conventions coincided with his separation from Sonia, but that's just a hunch, I can't be certain of anything.

Interesting.  Last I had spoke with him was C2E2 and things seemed to be going okay.  I am sorry to hear about him and Sonia.  If that is the case it is sad.  From my limited interaction with them, they seemed to compliment each other nicely.

I sent an email over to Mark Hay at Splash page as well to see if he could shed some light.

I could see getting out of some of the internet stuff just cause it's time consuming an distracting.  What got me worried was the complete lack of presence anywhere on line.

It's never cool when you go from engaged and living together to separation.  I could understand if he needs to have some space right now.

I last saw him in Baltimore in Oct.  By that time, he already left Mark and Splashpage.  Mike was there repped by Jason Schachter

I hate to say I had the same suspicion as Chris  Mike was my number one target at NYCC and when he cancelled I still went to Sonia in the hope that maybe something could be arranged away from the con. When she saw that I had travelled all the way from Australia, she actually started to elaborate that Mike was going off the radar but then seemed to think better of it and trailed off....

Really crushing for me, he remains my number one desired commission artist

I know that Mike is working on Astonishing Thor now, and his new art rep is c...ale/mike-choi/
