Paul Harvey dies at 90

Paul Harvey, the most listened-to broadcaster in America, whose shows originating from Chicago were heard by 18 million people every day, is dead at age 90.

Harvey died Saturday at a hospital in Phoenix, Ariz., where he had a winter home, less than a year after his wife, Lynne #8220;Angel#8221; Harvey.

Radio legend Paul Harvey died Saturday at the age of 90. Harvey was the most listened-to broadcaster in America and his shows were heard by 18 million people every day. #8220;My father and mother created from thin air what one day became radio and television news. So in the past year, an industry has lost its godparents and today millions have lost a friend,#8221; said Mr. Harvey#8217;s son, Paul Harvey Jr., in a statement.

Harvey was known for his shows, #8220aul Harvey News#8221; and #8220;The Rest of the Story.#8221;

#8220;Hello, Americans,#8221; every show began. #8220;You know what the news is. In a minute, you're going to hear the rest of the story.#8221;

Each broadcast ended with a human-interest story with a surprise ending, and his trademark extended pregnant pause: #8220aul Harvey ... ... Good Day!#8221;

Born in Oklahoma, Harvey was based in Chicago since the end of World War II. His studios were on the 16th floor of the building at the southeast corner of Michigan and Wacker, and that stretch of Wacker Drive was given the honorary name of Paul Harvey Drive.

It saddened me to read that...  He's been a distinctive name and voice all my life.  He'll definitely be missed.

I hadn't heard his broadcasts in years, but I enjoyed them when I did.  He was one of the greats.

Rest well, sir.

I will miss his broadcasts for sure, even though it's been a few years since I heard any.

My Dad used to drive me to school and every morning he'd listen to Paul Harvey.
I can hear him still saying quot;and now you know the rest of the story.quot;


I still tune in to hear his tales and I hope either his son takes over or they air re-runs.  I will certainly miss him.

He will be missed greatly by me.   I seldom missed his morning bit.   RIP.

He was the best.
