This is my first kit as a producer it is a two piece solid resin kit standing 7.5quot; tall. It was sculpted by our very own Tombow and is a definate must have kit. I painted this one up like the movie but I was thinking of painting one up like the comic books. What do you guys think and how would I go about the comic style paint job?
Any suggestions about the kit please pm me or drop me an email. Thanx for looking and enjoy.
love the bust!!! i like this paint up, but then i'm not the one to answer your question about the comic paint up.

Congrats on your first figure Will! Looks very cool!
Congrats on this great looking piece tombow.
Sorry I have been out of the loop for a bit. Thanx for all the kind words guys. This was a real easy paint job for me and quick too. That is a good thing because this is the first kit I have actually finished in a while.
The comic version is more graphic with little or no shading at all. There is a lot of black shadows that don't fade into the red, they just stop abruptly. It is a cool look but difficult to pull off successfully. I got the idea from a couple of kits that were entered in last year's Wonderfest model contest. A modeler took the Polarlights' repop of Spiderman and Hulk kits and painted them as they appeared in the comics. They looked a little funny from the side but when you view them from the front they were awesome. The modeler even went so far as to creat backgrounds that looked like the comic book covers. Incredible work and I just thought that it would be a neat project for this kit.
Any thoughts or if you know the modeler that I am referring to please drop me a email. Thanx again for looking.
Here is another view. I will try to get some more close up shots soon. |
