To me my X-fans!

Okay, so there's a girl at the school where my wife teaches who has become aware, through my wife carrying stuff in bags from my LCS, that we know a bit about comics. Turns out she's getting into the X-Men, and has already set up a Nightcrawler fansite, apparently. Now, she's turning her sights on an X-Men villain who apparently doesn't have his own fansite on the interweb: Toad. I know, I know... Anyway, she's keen to know what great, industry changing stories there are out there featuring Toad. I have early X-Men covered, as I have the dubious pleasure of reading all six 60s X-Men Masterworks back to back right now. But if anyone can recommend key later issues or tpbs featuring Toad, you'll probably end up making a small schoolgirl marginally more happy than before. Am I right in thinking he was actually pretty key to Secret Wars? It's been a while since I read it...

I don't think Toad was even in Secret Wars to be honest. Damn, has he been in ANYTHING since the Silver Age? The only thing I remember him in is Universe X, he was ruling the Savage Land. Of course, thats not even mainstream continuity, so that might not count anyway.

I thought he might have been serving Magneto, but it could be my memory playing tricks. I know in one of the recent forgettable X-runs Toad had somehow managed to look like his movie counterpart, and had acquired a really long Tongue.

I still haven't finished reading Universe X and Paradise X, must do that some time...

But while we're talking out-of-continuity, because my comics memory is really that bad, anyone know if we've seen Ultimate Toad yet? I think he was in it near the beginning, am I right?

I'll have a look at My Ultimate X-Men now.. he's in X-Men: Legends 2 if that helps?

He has 80 teeth and they're all very sharp.

Thanks, Justin, I had a feeling he was there at the start. I wonder how long he lasted. I seem to think they dispatched him in fairly short order, in-keeping a bit with movie continuity.

He was also in the recent X-Men: The 198 series for a few pages here and there, nothing too significant though.  He looks like a hybrid of the movie and classic versions these days... meh.

To be honest, I don't really recall Toad being involved in anything as long as I've been reading the X-Men - since the 90's - and if he was, it was totally forgettable.  I think Toad's day, if he ever had one, must have been back in Silver Age because he's almost  totally forgotten these days.
