Still got a long time to wait but at least we know when it's coming!
quot;Lucasfilm Ltd. and Twentieth Century Fox officially announced today that all six live-action Star Wars films will arrive on the Blu-Ray format in Fall 2011 as a commemorative box set.
The news, part of this week's Celebration V festivities, promises quot;the highest possible picture and audio presentation, along with extensive special features #8211; including documentaries, vintage behind-the-scenes moments, interviews, retrospectives and never-before-seen footage from the Lucasfilm archives.quot;
#8220;Blu-ray is the absolute best way to experience Star Wars at home #8211; in pristine high definition,#8221; said George Lucas of the release, #8220;The films have never looked or sounded better.#8221;
At this time it is unclear what versions of each film will appear in the set. Past Star Wars home video releases have focused on the updated special editions, though fan demand led to a later, unrestored release of the original theatrical version on the DVD format.quot;

Nice. First they will release quot;A New Hopequot; with Greedo shooting first and we will have to wait for the BD directors cut where Solo shoots first. As for Ep 1,2,3 there's nothing like seeing crap in high definition.

Lucas also clarified that the original trilogy movies will be included as they were shown theatrically in 1997 and released on DVD in 2004 - i.e., the original versions will not be included. quot;You have to go through and do a whole restoration on it, and you have to do that digitally,quot; he said. quot;It's a very, very expensive process to do it. So when we did the transfer to digital, we only transferred really the upgraded version.quot;
With the technology and resources at his disposal you would think he will atleast consider it and go the extra mile to deliver the original theatrical cuts in high-definition this time.
Good to know he has decided to keep the tradition alive by disappointing most fans as always.

I think he does this on purpose so he can keep re-releasing the Trilogy. Makes me angry. |
