What happened to Genis-vell

I enjoy reading those character summaries on Wikipedia and happened upon the one for Genis-Vell.  But it was the most convoluted story ever...  so can someone update me as to what the heck happened to this character??!

I wouldn't know where to start.

Last I heard he was killed in Thunderbolts before the whole Civil War thing.

Great character, backed by a great writer, Peter David, who got screwed by Quesada's quot;U Decidequot; fiasco, both went insane (Vell amp; David) and the book spiraled downward into it got the plug pulled.  He then resurfaced in Thunderbolts to be treated like a tool and offed like a bug

I thought the quot;U Decidequot; fiasco was a positive for the book.  It sparked Peter David's idea to make Genis insane which I thought was a stroke of genius.  That was one of the most entertaining reads I'd had in a good while at the time.

I love David's writing, so even when I don't necessarily like the turn something takes, I generally still enjoy the story and the way he handles it.  The insanity stuff falls into that category.  I don't think it'd be much of a stretch for that kind of power to unhinge someone, so that's fine, it's just that I really enjoyed where the book was going prior to U Decide and there was definitely a marked turn at that point.

I understand what you're saying but from what I remember, sales were lagging at the time so he had to try something different to save it.

Joe Q stated awhile back he didn't like Genis, so that pretty much sums it up.

The guy who was writing Tbolts with Genis in it, brought Genis into Tbolts cause he wasn't being used and loved the character. When Joe Q finally decided to bring back Mar-Vell, he told the tbolts writer to kill off Genis. Plus now that hulking is Mar-Vell's son, you wont ever see Genis again a long as Joe Q is EIC.

The U decide was the thing that got his book canceled if i remember correctly, but not sure on what the real reason was behind that u decide crap.

I wouldnt say Genis is dead tho, hes been killed before a few times and came back. In T bolts his body/essence was separated across different dimensions. So if anything, someone could go and get him back.

Sucks too cause in tbolts he was really learning on to deal with his powers and kicking major ass.

Hulkling is Mar-Vell's son?!?!?!

The good captain's had as many kids after death as Tupac's had albums.

hahaa

yup he's Mar-Vells kid and stated to appear in his new CM series. Joe Q  does not want Phylla or Genis to meet up with Marv. Which is the worst thing they are doing with the character.

I still say Marv should find out about Genis, bring him back and leave the title of CM to him. Then start a Series of Quasar and CapMarvel with Genis/Phyla as a team up book. Brother and sister saving the universe, with some sibling rivalry.
