My NEW Superman the Movie lifesize costume display!

Hi everyone,

After many attempts at this display, I finally found a mannequin which is VERY close to Chris Reeve's build and proportions. It makes all the difference when you can display the costume on a correctly sized body.

I just need to get some new boots made and rub down the nipples a bit so they're not so prominent!

Here's the pic:
Nice display.

Where did you get the costume from?

Thanks!

The costume was custom made for me after 2 years of research. I was very lucky to be allowed to borrow a large piece of the ORIGINAL fabric that was used for the actual costume - it was an offcut from the same pieces which they used to make Chris Reeve's costume. I felt very privelaged to be able to see it - it's VERY difficult colour to match and isn't what you'd expect it to be - more green than blue when you see it in person (and the bluescreen suit was EVEN more green). When the original fabric is photographed, it appears a lot more blue (and the same is true for mine).

Cheers,

Chris

wowza! cool costume! the s symbol seems small, and reeve is thicker than this mannequin. but gr8 job! u got the color right!

Thanks.

The S symbol is actually stretched to the correct size - it's 12 x 8 inches when stretched across the chest. The mannequin is actually slightly larger than Chris Reeve was during some of the earlier scenes. It's a 6ft 6quot; tall mannequin (if it had a head) so the distance between the belt and the bottom of the S symbol is a bit larger than on Chris Reeve (because the mannequin torso is a bit longer).

I matched up this photo with a publicity photo of Reeve and the symbol was a perfect match.

Cheers,

Looks great Chris. Very nicely done.

Ever considered adding a 1:1 bust of Chris to the display?

Doesn't really need it but it could be interesting.

What can I say Chris - your eye for detail is comparable to none! I thought back when you had the Hill full sized Superman that you had THE perfect Superman display. This is far and away the best display I've ever seen. Will you leave it like this or will you eventually cap it off with your Reeve bust? (I'd say leave it as is ... )

Tetragrammatron - I did commission a lifesized Reeve bust. It's going to be tricky to add it to the mannequin because of the tight fitting costume exposing the joints, but I may give it a go.

Here's a comparison - please note that the red trunks are different in these publicity pics - mine are based on the movie trunks, not the publicity versions.
Thanks Simmon! This mannequin blows away the one that I used with the Mike Hill waxwork head.

Cheers,

Chris

That's awesome, man!

I was about to say get a 1:1 Reeve head, stick it on that display and you're done!

Thr costume does look very movie accurate to me.
