Question about Amadeus Cho

Ok if he`s the seventh smartest person in the world who are the first six?
I think it`s safe to say Dr.Doom and Reed Richards take the first two spots so that leaves 4 people smarter than Cho.

I wondered the same thing...it's possible that they chose quot;7thquot; because then they wouldn't necessarily have to argue the lineup.  If they'd said he was first or second, then fans would be arguing all over the place.  If they said third, they'd still have possible reason to complain.  Seventh?  That's plenty of room to assume that your own favorite smarty-pants in the 616 is above Cho on the list.

Just my guess--I'm just thinking that Marvel doesn't have a quot;Master listquot; of characters ranked by intelligence or anything.

Fun to think about, though...who else would be in the top six?  Hank Pym?  Hank McCoy?  Spider-Man?  Mad Thinker?  The Leader?

I'd guess:

Mr. Fantastic
Doctor Doom
Tony Stark
Hank McCoy
Bruce Banner
Mad Thinker or Hank Pym

?I`d pick Tony Stark over Spidey and Pym over McCoy but if it comes down to biology Mr.Sinister over all of them including the  High Evolutionary.

See, this is the problem with labeling people as quot;the smartestquot;.  Sinister may be the foremost geneticist (and maybe not--he has some competition there), but in terms of sheer brainpower, I don't think he's in the top ten.  (It doesn't help his case that he chose a silly name like quot;Mister Sinisterquot;.)

I'd agree with Stark over Spidey.  In fact, I think Peter Parker falls into the same category as Sinister--pretty talented in one area (chemistry), but in others, smart but not record-setting.

In the past, Kitty Pryde was supposed to be a super-genius.  I don't know if that's been retconned, though.

Here's my list, now that I've had time to think about it:

1. Reed Richards (relatively undisputed #1)
2. Victor von Doom (second only to Reed)
3. Tony Stark (unparalleled futurist, inventor, etc.)
4. Hank Pym (worked in several technologies at an advanced level--biotech, genetics, engineering, etc.)
5. Bruce Banner (genetics, mainly...)
6. The Leader
7. Cho
8. Hank McCoy
9. Mad Thinker
10. Peter Parker

Also-Rans:
-Black Panther
-Kitty Pryde
-Doc Ock
-Kurt Connors (The Lizard)
-Mr. Sinister
-Professor X

This might be an easier list if we stuck to just heroes or just villains, though I know the premise is that Cho's the seventh smartest quot;personquot;.  But Leader and Mad Thinker might be the winners in terms of raw intellect, but they get hamstrung by their own flawed personalities.

Still, I think it's been said (somewhere) that the 616 wouldn't be nearly as technologically advanced were it not for Reed Richards, Bruce Banner, and Tony Stark--so they should definitely be in the top 5.

I hate when writers make such blanket statements about characters in the MU. ATrust me they will find someone smarter in the future or the whole thing will be reconned.
